New York winters are somethin’ else… well, New York weather in general! One day, we’re gearing up for a winter storm/blizzard, next day it’s in the 60s.
Well, while I’d have loved to break out my light, airy dresses, the fact is, it was still the middle of February. There can still be a chill in the air in the mornings (the time these pics were taken) and I don’t play around with getting sick. So I’ll go ahead and wear my winterish gear but lose the jacket if need be… sounds like a reasonable compromise!
Merino Blend Top – H&M (similar) | Skirt – Thrifted (similar) | Boots – ShoeDazzle (no longer available – similar) | Belt – Old Banana Republic (similar) | Watch – JORD | Necklace – Yakutti (also worn here)
As seen in my summer to fall fashion post, there are ways to easily embrace that funny transitional weather period where temps are up one day and down the next. In that situation, I wore summer separates but added a blazer, booties and a scarf due to the oncoming of fall. As we get closer to spring, I’d definitely rock similar outfits.
But THIS time of year, you can basically do the reverse if it happens to get unseasonably warm – wear pieces appropriate to the winter season but remove the layers and ditch the extra stuff… like tights, a scarf and jacket.
Of course, if temps are reaching 70º + in February (and it did one day!), don’t wear a turtleneck and knee-high boots, mmkay?! Just don’t.
How bout you?!
Is the weather kinda crazy where you live? How do YOU choose outfits while dealing with quickly changing temperatures?
