Still in my transition stage. I thought I cut all my relaxer out, but I still see it on the ends, so my go to style that is working for me is my wash and go’s. I co-wash after my morning runs and section and run coconut oil and Curl Prep Sweet Buttah through individual smaller sections while wet. Then I dry with a diffuser, enough to get out the house and let the rest air dry.

My go to is a extra big, extra voluminous twistout! After my shampoo, I go heavy with Shea Moisture’s Restorative Conditioner as a leave-in and seal with my oil mix which consists of jojoba, organic coconut, olive oil and vitamin e. I air dry and twist while it’s damp using Shea Moisture’s curl Enhancing Smoothie our Deep Treatment Masque. Dry overnight, use SM Finishing Elixir on my fingers as I’m untwisting, rub, the parts out, shake and go!

Since I am in that “dreaded in between stage”, I find that two-strand twist outs work well for me. I co-wash with Tresemme Naturals conditioner, then deep condition with a homemade mixture: avocado, mayo, olive oil, honey and a few drops of iodine. After 20 mins under a shower cap, I rinse out and co-wash again with the Tresemme. I seal my wet hair with an oil mixture then slather Cantu Shea Butter Leave In Conditioning Creme throughout. I then section my hair in four parts, apply a homemade Shea butter mixture and twist. I then cover with a silk head wrap and let it dry until the next day. I untwist using a few drops of oil, and voila!

Flat twist out: My go to style. I use the LOC Method. Either water mixed with essential oils, coconut oil, & styler cream of choice. If I don’t use my water mixture I use Karen Body Beautiful leave in conditioner and styler of choice. Moisturizing is important for my hair. Aids in definition & body for my hair!

My go- to hairstyle is simply a banana clip updo with either 3 flat twists at the middle of my forehead curled with my perm rods or one twist curled with the perm rod. To achieve a smooth banana clip updo I use the LOC method.

I use my water which is in a spray bottle to moisturize my hair & I add castor oil in my palms & rub it together before applying it to my hair and my ends. I then use a creamy moisturizer such as Shea moisture’s curl enhancing smoothie or Coco Curls styling cream and brush my hair smoothing it into a pony tail with my hands.

I put on my banana clip as if I’m doing a fro hawk and clip the loose end at the top. I usually gather the hair that’s left out of the clip and secure the ends with a rubber band. I then roll the hair & it takes the form of a french roll & secure it with hair pins.

My go to style is the wash and go. Lol. Only because it has taken me about a year to finally find products that make that style work for me. I use Yes to Carrots shampoo (every other wash), either Mango Au Naturale conditioner (mmmmazing) or Shea moisture conditioner. And the product that I discovered most recently that works for any hair style to keep my hair (and my daughter’s hair) soft, manageable, and healthy is the Creme of Nature 7-in-1 leave in conditioner (recently featured in Curlbox, I was definitely “jelly”). Then I use ecostyler olive oil gel and let it air dry! My next goal is to be able to try these other amazing hair styles and finally let myself be all natural and totally free! Thanks tobnatural for the chance to share

I am a simple girl, and for me less is more. i shampoo weekly with a sulfate free shampoo from natures gate, dc, and prepoo with evoo( or my hair will get knots on the ends) for me stretched hair is best so after my whole wash routine i part my hair in 4, and add some grapeseed oil then my moisturizer ( garnier fructis leave in or kckt, sometimes i use cantu shea butter if i style my hair dry to soften it)and finally seal with whipped butter a then i twist my hair then band it. ( sometimes i lightly blow dry on cool setting so my roots won’t be wet at bed time) My go to style has been a bun( high bun, ninja bun, low bun, marley bun, see the pattern, 🙂 )

Hi I ♥ protective styles. I use A Natural Starr products to keep my hair healthy, conditioned and moisturized. To achieve maximum growth I finger comb my hair using A natural starr souffle, and spray daily with A Natural Starr hair & scalp refresher. To seal my ends I use A Natural Starr hair & body oil.

My go to style M-TH is a chunky twist up do. It leaves my ends protected and also stretches my hair so I can rock a twist out for the weekend!I pre poo with coconut oil and Kimmaytube Leave in, wash or co wash with SheaMoisture’s Moisture Retention or Coconut & Hibiscus shampoo or conditioner, DC with SheaMoisture’s raw shea butter or yucca & baobab anti-breakage masque, hot oil using my 11 oil blend. I use either SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Style or EdenBodyWorks peppermint/tea tree hair milk as a leave in, seal with my oil blend and homemade shea souffle, and use either SheaMoisture Curling Gel Souffle or Curls Passion Fruit Curl Control Paste as my styler.

My go to style is a three strand twist because it gives me a fuller twist out. I like it on either wet or dry hair. I don’t use a comb to part, just using my fingers to section off. The products I use the most are Shea Moisture Curling Smoothie or Miss Jessie’s Curly Buttercreme with coconut oil and I like to leave the twists in as long as possible for great definition.

I have two “go to styles” – the 1st one is a simple wash and go, mainly because I’m horrible at styling my own hair. I use Kinky Curly conditioner to detangle, Shea Moisture Curl Smoothie to define my coils and olive oil eco sytler gel to smooth my edges and lock the curls in place from the humidity. My 2nd “go to style” is a curly bun on the top of my head, I use the same routine but I only apply the curl smoothie to the bun on top of my head – afro puff and done!

My go to would be my infamous finger coil out. I wash with Shea moisture moisture retention shampoo, then Eden bodyworks deep conditioner. Then I do some Kinky Curly Knot Today leave in conditoner. I add some Taliah Waajid Curly Curl Cream, and my fingers get the coiling. I maintain with Natural Roxx lavendar refresher spray.

My go to is the twist untwisted which i like to pin up when I’m at work or let freely hang when I’m at home. I am to cheap to by products so I make my own, but i must say when I’m to lazy to make my own my go to products are either Talilah Wajiid or Karen’s Body Beautiful. I just like to keep it simple the less stress my hair is put under the more it grows. I have been natural for a little over a year and my 8 inches long…and they say your hair only grows 6 inches a year…..They LIED!!!!!

    • July 25, 2013 / 4:36 pm

Lol! Well, that’s more of an average… some more, some less. 😉 But that’s awesome that you’ve discovered the best way for you to retain length! Thanks for sharing!

My go to style is braids, dealing with the heat, and humidity in Florida, and not to mention shrinkage, as a result of this, braids are easy to wear, and my ends stay protected as well. My styles are achieved by shampooing, clarifying, and deep conditioning, followed by the LOC method. Then I call my friend to come, braid it up for me, the syles usually last from 2-3 weeks, then I rock my fro for a week or so, and the process is resumed. By the way at night for sleeping I use my satin scarf, and during the day I moisturize with my DIY spritz of distilled water, leave in conditioner, and oils to keep it looking healthy, and fresh.

My go to is the wash n go that turns into the afro pony!! It’s the only style I can trust to turn out right for me every time no matter what products I use. No matter what products it’s all in technique-multiple sections and raking products through then letting air dry. So simple yet effective 🙂

I must say my go to style is Shea Moisture, I have mastered my 2 strand twists from using the Hair Smoothie. I have been natural for over 2 years now and have tried a few other products but have not been able to get the same results as I thought. I have a lot more learning to do on better hair care since going back Natural but I love their products and suggest them to many who are newly naturals. The fact for one that their products are for one affordable for someone who isn’t quite sure as to if will have the outcome desired. Also thee amount of product that you get with your purchase is a very good ample amount. When in doubt you can never screw up a twist out , and most times after the first day that’s when the magic happens.

  18. July 25, 2013 / 3:18 pm

My go to style is my flat twist out. Sometimes I do it wet and other times dry. I use shea butter and eco styler gel for moisture and hold. If I do it dry and its time to retwist I use foaming lottabody with olive oil.

  19. July 24, 2013 / 12:00 am

I am a newbie and transitioning. I use Hello Hydration shampoo and conditioner, rinse with ACV mix and let it sit for at least 3 minutes. I then follow up with Aphogee Green Tea Keratin leave in conditioner followed by ECO Gel Styler (Olive Oil) then use curlformers sometimes under dryer and sometimes sleep in overnight, shake out and go in the morning.

  20. July 23, 2013 / 1:57 pm

My go to style is a two stand flat twist out. I do it on wet hair in large sections using Shea moisture’s curl enhancing smoothie. I let it air dry over night and voila! beautiful curls in the morning!

  21. July 22, 2013 / 9:07 pm

My go to style is rods sets. I really is simple and easy to do. You can get great styles out of the curls that you achieve. Plus it also helps to embrace your curls while your transitioning. It really helps to blend your two textures and is a great protective style by keeping your curls off of your shoulders. As for products I used moisturizing spray of choice and styler for a soft curl I used as I am doublebutter cream and for a firmer hold I used aunt jackies in control. It gives a sttong hold with no flakes. I big chopped 2 days ago so right now I’m enjoying wash n go’s!!

Hello everyone! My name is Tasha Nicole and I have been natural for 5 years this year! My all time go to style is a two-strand twist bantu knot out. I usually decide on the size of the twists based on how big I want my fro to look. I usually do this style on fresh washed and conditioned hair. Sunday is my wash day and that style sets me up for the whole upcoming week. I find better definition for any style such as twists, braid outs, bantu knots, and flat twists outs is when my hair is freshly washed or damp. I use the following products (Hello Hydration Shampoo, Aussie Moist conditioner, Cantu shea butter leave-in, Shea Moisture curling smoothie, and seal my ends with either Vitamin E oil or Carol’s Daughter Honey Mimosa. Then I let it set for the day or overnight and I have my curls the next day!

  26. July 21, 2013 / 8:43 pm

My go to style is the Braid-out. I love it because it gives me volume and definition that my Fro ABSOLUTELY loves! I first start out with moisturizing with, Eden’s Heart daily conditioner and I seal with Eden’s Heart Hair Butter and then I braid. I get moisture locked in and definition!!!

  27. July 21, 2013 / 8:05 pm

My go-to hairstyle is a “fro-hawk”. I do 4-5 flat twists on both sides of my head and a twist out down the center. I use Shea Moisture’s Curl Enhancing Smoothie to achieve this, and I always get compliments!

Being a newbie to the natural hair community (6 month post BC), seeing all the wonderful styles and products, I found that wash n go (using As I Am coconut co-wash) works wonders for me now, as I rake in my conditioner and butter, I keep smoothing my hair till it coils and its just soo beautiful, my style and moisture last longer in my hair, and my most fav dc is avocado, honey and evoo. . . My hair just drinks this baby! Get to know, discover what works and embrace your hair! ❤

My go to style is my two-strand twist up do. I love it because its simple and out of my face. My staple products are: Elasta QP Olive oil & Mango Butter moisturizer, Shea Moisture coconut & hibiscus curl enhancing smoothie and to seal all this my moisture in I use a home made raw Shea butter whip that contains olive, organ and coconut oil. I love these products because it leaves my hair soft, shiny, and defines my curls !!

  34. July 20, 2013 / 3:22 pm

My go to hairstyle is the messy bun. The products I use to achieve it in cantu she butter leave-in conditioner repair cream, plamers hair milk, and ecostyler gel. I’ve never used any of the products that you are giving away, but I would love to try them. Thank you.

  35. July 20, 2013 / 3:16 pm

My go to hair style is the twist and flexi rod set. I transitioned for 2yrs and I have perfected the style! I use the entire Entwine Coture line! The Entwine products leave my hair soft, bouncy, and moisturized! I have been natural for over three years now so it takes my hair much longer to dry. I sleep in the flexi rods and then use a hooded dryer to complete because for me, damp hair means fuzzy curls!! I retwist and pineapple nightly and seal my ends with Entwine’s argon oil and the butter cream hydrator.

2StrandsTwists up/down-twisted out shake head where they fall freedom. After a few days pull out a beautiful scarf.

  37. July 20, 2013 / 3:08 pm

My go to hair style is a twist and flexi rod set. I did this while transitioning, which I did for 2 yrs!! My current products are the entire Entwine Coture line. Now that I have been natural for 3 years my hair is a lot thicker than when I was transitioning so I have to use a hooded dryer and sleep in the flexi rods to ensure that my hair gets completely dry! The Entwine products leave my hair bouncy and moisturized! In order to keep my hair from getting frizzy I retwist and pineapple nightly.

I love the Afro puff. For me it’s a wash and go style. After I washbmy hair I brush my hair up and I use the Eco style olive oil gel to control my edges. I then use my ouchless hair band and put around my hair. On my ends I use the Cantu curling cream activator. After I tie my edges down for a few minutes its out the door for me.
