I have found the ONLY skirt you need to round out the season whether it’s a Sunday brunch, a summer wedding or just because! And girl… it has POCKETS!! Read on to see why you need this skirt in your life.
This coral maxi skirt is my top summer staple! It nicely covers all the “problem” areas I’m working with as I deal with my post-baby body and it keeps me super cool when it’s a blazing 93 DEGREES! Eeek! Here’s how I rocked it on this scorcher of a day.
I went to a beautiful spring wedding and rocked a flowy, vintage floral dress that was only ONE DOLLAR… BOOM! Wanna know where I got it? Read on!
While Springtime is normally all about bright and bold hues, you don’t necessarily have to be draped in it from head to toe, especially if color really isn’t your “thing”. BUT… a great way to add a pop of color is with a gorgeous statement necklace. The purpose of this piece of jewelry is all in the name- it makes a statement all on its own. That said, they’re best when worn with a rather simple ensemble as it does the job of bringing a taste of drama. Also, simple studs or similar will do if you’re rockin’ one of these. Earrings that are just as attention-grabbing as your necklace are just way too much and will drown out the statement that your neck wear is trying to make. Remember how you used to ransack your mom’s jewelry box and put everything on? Yeah, don’t be that girl. LOL! 😉 Here are eight beautiful necklaces to suit various tastes and budgets whether you’re fashionably frugal or willing to splurge! Top Row: Dazzle ‘Em Bib Necklace | Diamante & Cord Necklace | The Flamingo Necklace Middle Row: Slink Statement Necklace | Antiqued Metal Necklace Bottom Row: Gio Bib Necklace | Mixit® May Flowers Statement Necklace | Feather Necklace I love using my statement necklaces to dress up a white t-shirt and jeans or a solid maxi dress. They can also be a nice addition to a simple button-up oxford shirt and slacks. Whether at work or at play, statement pieces are a great way to spice up any wardrobe! How do you wear YOUR statement necklaces? Where do you like to shop for trendy accessories? Talk to you soon! xoxo Toia B.
Spring has officially been here for all of three weeks but, here in NYC, it’s only now starting to feel like it. Boots, coats and heavy fabrics are slowly but surely being replaced by flats, light blazers and tulle. Here’s a little guide to getting the best out of this season’s offerings. I gave myself a nice Spring-inspired color palette to work with and was able to find some cute items to share…H M floral shirt/ Overall / Dorothy Perkins clothing / Gap loafer / Handbag / Forever 21 short chain necklace / Topshop cat eye sunglasses / Duck, Duck, Umbrella in Yellow 1. What’s Spring without florals? Gotta have ’em! Whether in the form of a versatile button-down or a fun maxi dress, grab something in a floral pattern to brighten up the day. 2. Statement necklaces are fab for any time of the year. As the temps warm up, though, why not add some soft pastels to your collection? The great thing about rockin’ your statement piece now is that you don’t have to hide it under a big, bulky coat! 😉 3. With Spring, we trade snow for rain… a deal I’d make any day! LOL! Keep your blow-outs and twist-outs in check with a sturdy, reliable umbrella. How cute is this one from ModCloth?! 4. The days are brighter and longer! Protect those peepers with some functional yet fashionable sunnies. While I love this cat eye option from Topshop, I’d probably head over to Forever 21 for a budget-friendly alternative like these. 5. MAXI SKIRTS!! I just can’t get enough of them! You can wear them anywhere with just about anything. A true staple. Dress it down with a chambray button-up & some Chucks or get a little fancy with a wedge heeled peep-toe and a crisp…
I can’t get enough of skirts in the summertime! The maxi is a definite love but what really makes me wanna skip through a meadow is a great-fitting circle skirt… the midi, more specifically. What better way to represent at a breakfast and hair care line presentation with the crew at SoftSheen-Carson than to get a little ‘dolled-up’ with my (relatively) new favorite BRIGHT floral midi skirt! Skirt: H&M | Cropped Cotton Blazer (old): Forever 21 | White Tank: Target | Shoes: Necessary Clothing | Bag (old): H&M | Necklace: Unknown Because I’ve been ‘cursed’ with a larger *cough* posterior in conjunction with a tiny waist, finding clothing that fits properly can be challenging. I’ve found that an A-line silhouette suits me best and I seldom need to make any adjustments to dresses or skirts of this kind. If any, it’s very minimal. This beauty hits the waist just right and then flares with plenty of material to gently camouflage… my issues. With a skirt so bright and full of color, I toned it down with a white tank and neutral blazer and brought out a color from the floral design with a necklace I’ve had for YEARS. To close out the accessories, I picked up the faint, dark green in the design with a matching purse and the main orangey-reddish hue flowed well with these peep-toe wedges that you may remember from this post. I felt so summery and cool in this getup! *Shout out to fellow blogger Joy Adaeze for snapping these pics !* What are YOUR favorite types of skirts to wear in the summertime? Which silhouettes have you found fit you the best? I’d love to hear from you! 😉 xoxo Toia B. Fashion Friday: BRIGHT Floral Midi Skirt was last modified: August 31st, 2016 by Toia…
Happy Friday! Today’s ensemble is the result of a prompting by Ije over at Klassy Kinks. This week, she participated in ModCloth‘s Uniquely You Challenge where she was asked to style a specific piece from their collection using up to seven items also sold by ModCloth. Ije suggested we take the dress and style it to our liking. Of course, I had to take her up on that but I’d style this Bea & Dot Palette on Parade Dress using pieces from some of my other favorite retailers. Hey, I’M not doing the challenge LOL! Not yet anyways… Bea Dot shirt dress / H M denim jacket / Combat boots / Forever 21 tote bag / ALDO gold ring / Infinity scarf / Cutout Craze Geo Earrings This shirt dress is too adorable. I love the retro shape and you can go either way with it style-wise. I decided to go casual by first adding a denim jacket. Since it is so colorful, I toned it down with a neutral tote bag and combat boots- footwear so out of the norm for me, but they casualize (totally made-up word) the dress, can be worn across seasons and, to me, go great with the denim jacket. I would place the collar of said jacket underneath that of the dress and then pop ’em. HEY NOW!! I can just picture myself in this getup in the Spring, headed to a quaint little coffee shop in Park Slope to suck up the free wi-fi! 😉 For accessories, rather simple stuff. I chose these geo earrings (1) for the shape which kinda echoes the little “pizza slices” in the dress and (2) to bring out the least noticeable color in the lot. I thought a scarf of a similar shade would help bring some balance to it all. Oh, and ya…
