Sooo… this mini photo session happened way back in October. YIKES! I’ve shared a few photos here and there (and you’ve probably seen a couple floating around on the internet!) but never the full batch. My bad y’all. Well, what better time to do so than during my August #31WriteNow blogging challenge! DMV-based photographer (yes, I went all the way to DC!) Danielle ‘Danni’ Finney is the talent behind the camera. With her amazing ability to use natural light to achieve gorgeous, colorful images, her work has definitely become instantly recognizable. Between Danni’s eye for prime locations and the work of her MUA Stephanie of Runway Ready Makeup Artistry, these shots came out way better than I ever would have expected! Although well into Fall, the weather beautifully cooperated with our plans. It was a gorgeous day. My entire outfit was purchased at H&M with the exception of the shoes which are by ShoeDazzle. Click here for a tutorial on this hairstyle. HUGE thanks to Danni and Stephanie for making me feel so beautiful that day. I had a great time. Danni is a sweetheart who’s about her stuff and takes pride in her craft! Professional from beginning to end. Stephanie listened to my request for a soft, natural look and she certainly delivered. I still looked like ME! Haha. Even the hubster (who isn’t the biggest fan of makeup!) approved! LOL! Both of these gals were a joy to work with! Wanna learn more about the woman behind the camera? Check out my interview with Danni here and be sure to view her work at dfinneyphoto.com. If you’re in the DC Metro area and wanna treat yourself or your family to some beautiful portraits, Danni’s your girl! Until next time! xoxo ~Toia #31WriteNow ************IMPORTANT************ I don’t mind if you…
Haha!! No need to be alarmed folks! I’m only talkin’ ’bout a ‘photog’ who is making a name for herself as she hones her craft and continues to take on new ventures in the world of creative and editorial photography. You may have first come to know her as “Riley’s mom”, the eyes behind the camera catching candid stills of the little naturalista. But Christin Armstrong, the talent behind Christin Shoots People, has a career that is gaining quite the momentum and giving no signs of stopping! Christin is a fellow natural gal and professional photographer based in the Houston area. She is also a wife and mother raising a son in addition to her daughter, Riley, who she is teaching to love the hair she was blessed with. I asked Christin to share a little about her journey down the kinky-haired road as well as her art and where it’s taking her. TBN: When and how did you begin your natural hair journey? What was the reaction of friends and family? CA: In April of last year I took down my three month old sew-in. My hair was insanely tangled and oddly hard. After trying different methods to untangle it for about three days, I finally cut it off at the line of demarcation. Since my daughter is natural, I already had tons of products and minimal knowledge on natural hair upkeep. My friends loved it, which I expected because they know and understand my style. My family, however, is old school. I still get mindless remarks from them from time to time. TBN: What would you say is the best part of being natural and how did you overcome challenges you’ve encountered along the way? CA: I definitely think the best part of being natural is the versatility.…
