Spring Hair Affair- Anu Essentials + Natural Hair Does Care

written by tobnatural June 3, 2013

On April 16th (I know… this is DREADFULLY late!) naturalistas from around town flocked to Brooklyn’s Khamit Kinks Salon to enjoy light refreshments, each other’s company and of course, the latest from owner Anu Prestonia- Anu Essentials. To help us understand why this line is so, well… essential ^_^ the beautiful sisters of Natural Hair Does Care– Shalleen-Kaye and Seanna-Kaye- talked about their experience using the line and their results.

Shalleen-Kaye sported a gorgeous flat-twist-out styled into a faux bang to the front with a “hair bow” to the back while Seanna-Kaye let her twist-out loose to finesse her cheek and cascade onto her shoulders…

To start, the dynamic duo introduced us to the various products offered by the line which seems to be quite complete from shampoo to sealing. If you’re like me and missed the launch event, this was a treat to finally hear (and SEE!) the benefits of these products.

I think I speak for all when I say that the highlight had to be witnessing a big chop from start to finish. Miss Jewel came in with a long, flowing weave and was transformed right before our eyes!

Aside from the big chop, the Khamit Kinks stylists were doing their thing throughout the evening, turning out some hot styles like this amazing twist-out…

Of course, Anu stepped up to address the crowd, speaking to us about why she created the line and the importance of certain hair care practices like regular trims.

I hooked up with a few of the “usuals” like Monet of Curls and Mo, Sharon- the natural socialite (LOL) and Danielle of Danie and the Bloom.

All in all, it was a great evening of education and conversations. Thanks to Anu for opening up her salon, Natural Hair Does Care for being such gracious co-hosts and Renae Bluitt of Crush Media (and In Her Shoes Blog) for putting together an awesome affair. Check out the video montage below for all of the pics from the event.

Enjoy!
