Product Review: Elucence Beauty & Wellness Shampoo & Conditioner

Recently, I decided it was time I go through my stash of goodie bag samples and actually try out some stuff. I believe I received this duo by Elucence at the Halo Beauty Lounge event I attended over the summer. The brand was completely new to me so I was eager to give it a try and share my thoughts with you!

My Experience

The smell is amazing! I instantly get the hints of peach with one whiff. Kinda reminds me of moscato. So yummy!

Clearly, a little goes a long way with this product. As you can see from the photo above, I only used about a third of the total contents so a 10 oz. bottle would last me a good while. For six bucks, that’s a pretty good deal!

After working the shampoo through each section of hair and massaging my scalp, I like to leave it on for a few minutes before rinsing so it can do its “thing”. It lathered up pretty good but didn’t leave my hair overly stripped. My scalp felt refreshed and was dirt-free. I felt like the Moisture Benefits Shampoo gave me a nice balance between a clarifying shampoo and other moisturizing shampoos that I use regularly. Me likey!

You May Wanna Know…

While this shampoo does NOT contain the dreaded Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulfate (the detergent or surfactant used in many shampoos which can strip the hair of its natural oils), it does contain coconut oil derived Sodium Myreth Sulfate. After some digging, I found that the two are very similar. HOWEVER, the sulfate in this product is listed about seventh after some rather attractive fruit and root extracts. I’ve noticed in “mainstream” drug store brands that SLS will usually be listed somewhere among the top five ingredients, so this didn’t bother me much at all.

Moisture Balancing Conditioner | $8, 10 oz.

Key Ingredients: Olive oil-derived squalane and coconut triglycerides | Glycerin Free, Silicone Free, Sulfate Free

“A balancing blend of natural olive oil and coconut, Moisture Balancing Conditioner moisturizes and protects your hair without weighing it down. Essential triglycerides add softness, shine and silkiness to your hair for effortless combing and minimized breakage.”

My Experience

This conditioner has a very pleasant, clean scent- not really fruity nor extra perfume-y. The consistency is rather thick, which I love. Runny conditioners get the side eye!

I can’t tell exactly how much conditioner I used but it seems like it may have been a little more than half. It’s always that way with conditioner, though, isn’t it? A little shampoo vs ALL of the conditioner!

The instructions say to leave on for one minute. I left it on for about five, I’m such a rebel. 🙂 As I worked the conditioner in, my fingers were able to glide through my hair easily. What’s interesting is that it can be used as a leave-in (on damp hair) if you’re experiencing excessive dryness. That being the case, I didn’t stress about getting it all washed out completely. I thought this Moisture Balancing Conditioner did just what it claims. My hair was left feeling really moisturized and manageable.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I really like this duo! I wasn’t sure what to expect simply because I had never heard of this brand but after reading the ingredients¹, I was optimistic. Speaking of ingredients… if you’re looking for something completely natural, these may not be for you. In my opinion, they have enough natural ingredients (most of which are listed at the top before anything unpronounceable) to at least try ’em out.

Let’s chat… have YOU tried Elucence products? If so, what did you think? If not, would you give them a try?

xoxo

Never heard of it until now. I look for it, although some products are hard to find in Canada (I don’t know why).

Yeah, I’ve heard that about Canada. If not, they’re available online.
