Autumn. NYC. 62°. Not quite warm but not freezing. There’s a crispness in the air. It’s the perfect weather for your favorite pair of jeans, a simple blazer and some booties. But how do you break away from the monotonal-ness (I make words up! LOL) of the neutrals so popular for the Fall?
Think about it: the colors of the season in nature are often reflected in the fashion of said season, i.e. the various shades of brown in the Fall. I say let’s mix it up by throwing a fun print in there… something unexpected!
This ruffled polka dot number I spotted on Amazon seemed like the perfect stand-out to what would be a cute but predictable ensemble. If the dots alone don’t get you, the flouncy-flounce ’round the neck peeking from behind the beige lapels says “HERE I AM”! For a little more style and flair, roll the shirt cuffs over the cuffs of the blazer. Even when worn alone, you’re still on point.
The deeper tone of the green tote somewhat keeps the neutral theme but adds a bit of flavor and color without overpowering the star of the show. How cute are these Dorothy Perkins booties?! Between the footwear and clean lines of the blazer, you’ve got a look that screams Tailored Chic! I’m not a watch-wearer but ALDO has got some great offerings this season like this one in faux gold. Subtle add-ons like these coral studs and this adorable bow ring quietly finish off the look.
Don’t be afraid to step out of the box once in a while. I can understand wanting to play it safe in fashion but every now and then, ya just gotta have some fun with it!
