Every winter, I’d find myself searching for the perfect pair of boots only to settle for some style that was just alright. I’m super excited to have finally found the perfect, most comfortable pair of over-the-knee boots! My vibrant orange sweater and black skinnies complemented them nicely.
No matter what type of outfit I’m wearing, I love adding a little something extra to complete my look. The thing I adore most is a dope necklace. Whatever your favorite accessory might be, Yakutti makes it easy to define your style!
Being that this was an event hosted by miss Curly Nikki, I knew there would be tons of media and lots of pic-taking! Therefore, even more so than usual, putting together a comfortable yet super cute outfit was a must. Soooo… this outfit idea literally came to me in the shower (LOL) only a few hours before it was time to get ready. If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you mighta seen these pics in your feed: My inspiration was this cool, semi-funky, comfy-looking outfit on Esperanza Spalding… a go-with-anything chambray denim button-down, jeans and a blazer ← Anyone who really knows me understands how much I live for blazers! Cute, huh?! I thought, “what haven’t I worn in a while”? The coral H&M jeans and purple Zara blazer came to mind. Surely those two would go together! Once I had it all figured out, it reminded me of this ensemble Nikki herself wore at her NYC meetup back in October of 2011. I was only able to capture this single shot of my outfit so… Velvet Blazer: Zara | Chambray Shirt: Dr. Jays | Jeans, Bracelets, Purse: H&M | Wedge Booties: ShoeDazzle | Necklace: Jewelry Swap | Earrings: Necessary Clothing | Ring: Gifted Nikki and I almost ended up looking like twinzies if you ask me! “Great minds…” Moral of the story? You don’t have to sacrifice style for comfort! Marrying “dressy” items with casual basics can make for awesome event-worthy style without being stuffy. Blazers can instantly pull an outfit together, even when working off of the simplest pieces. ‘Til next time fashionistas! xoxo ~Toia
Last Friday, I was set to hop on a bus to Philly to see my homie for an evening of culture with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. I decided to go with a comfy, colorful combo topped off by a teal blazer… I LOVE teal!! Thing is, thanks to a NYC water main break that messed up transit all over the city, ya girl never made it. That said, look for this outfit (or a variation of it) at a future event! “High Society” satchel by JustFab.
