Taliah Waajid brought her natural hair expo to NYC for the first time and you know I had to be in the mix! I opted for comfort on day one with a pair of simple flats as I assisted at the EMBRACE Magazine booth. Making a quick appearance on day two to capture some footage, I thought I would finally bring out some bright, funky heels. BOOM! We took a little trip to Connecticut a couple Saturdays ago to surprise our friend, a mom-to-be, at Beardsley Park in Bridgeport. It can be risky to plan an outdoor gathering but the weather definitely cooperated during this baby shower. It was a GORGEOUS day! It was also HOT so I opted for this lightweight, blue floral skirt that I bought from the same thrift store as this one for a mere four bucks. Having recently gone through my large collection of tees, I remembered that I might have one that would go perfectly with it. It was a rather lazy Tuesday as I was still trying to rest up after a VERY busy two weeks which included going back to work after a year and a half (YAY ME!) while putting the finishing touches on my event on the 15th and THEN an exciting weekend that followed. Woosh! A feeling for some Dallas BBQ grub… aaannnd one of their luscious frozen dranks, Texas size of course, suddenly came over me. And wuddyaknow? Hubby was all for it! Whether you call them jumpsuits, playsuits or rompers, they have certainly become the quintessential item for Summertime over the last few years. This season, we’re seeing tons of ’em popping up in some fabulous hues and prints to suit just about every taste and scream “fun in the sun”! Here are three faves that I found while snooping around on a few of my favorite fashion sites… Look 1: Romper– H&M; Necklace; Thong Sandal | Look 2: Romper– Dorothy Perkins; Necklace; Wedge Sandal | Look 3: Romper– Topshop; Necklace; High Heel Sandal Make your romper office-ready (if your office even allows shorts and things…) by pairing it with a smart cropped blazer. While Springtime is normally all about bright and bold hues, you don’t necessarily have to be draped in it from head to toe, especially if color really isn’t your “thing”. BUT… a great way to add a pop of color is with a gorgeous statement necklace. The purpose of this piece of jewelry is all in the name- it makes a statement all on its own. That said, they’re best when worn with a rather simple ensemble as it does the job of bringing a taste of drama. Also, simple studs or similar will do if you’re rockin’ one of these. Earrings that are just as attention-grabbing as your necklace are just way too much and will drown out the statement that your neck wear is trying to make. Remember how you used to ransack your mom’s jewelry box and put everything on? Yeah, don’t be that girl. LOL! 😉…
